1 - How To Set Up Your Easy IRA Retirement Account

The TimingTruth EASY IRA Retirement Strategy is for individuals who want the easiest way to start saving for their retirement and don't have access to an employer sponsored 401k plan. It uses only two mutual funds while seeking to keep management costs to a minimum. As all TimingTruth strategies it strives to take advantage of strong economic cycles while avoiding weaker periods by monitoring long-term economic trends.

First, you need to have an on-line retirement account.

We suggest Vanguard.com. Vanguard is very good at helping you through their process so we will not detail it here. Accept their help. (If you want to explore other on-line companies please read "How to Select an On-line Brokerage Firm.")

For this strategy you must open a Mutual Fund account.

Next you must create the correct type of investment account.

Regular and Retirement accounts are different in how they are taxed.

Income or profit from a Retirement (IRA) has special tax treatments.
Income or profit from a Regular account will be treated as regular income.

Specify a Retirement (IRA) account, NOT a Regular account.

Vanguard requires a $3,000 minimum investment for most of its funds so plan to start with at least this amount. Also, to avoid the $20 annual maintenance fee sign up for electronic distribution of your account communications.
